June of 2006, I had a date with destiny. I met Dr. McAnally and his staff for a free consult. Then I quickly scheduled a second appointment to hear the findings of my first appointment and whether there was something that could be done for me. Based on previous experiences at other dental offices over the years, I found that even minor surgery was always very painful afterwards. Clinical Study Tests New & Improved Dental Implants

Dr. McAnally and Northwest Implant Research Group is performing a clinical study that ends denture problems by using a new type of dental implant. Clients wearing dentures for 11 months or longer are eligible for this study.
For clients not wearing dentures or for those who have been wearing dentures for less than 11 months, you may be eligible for other implant options for your problems outside of this study. You are also encouraged to contact the office for more information.
Dental implants are highly successful in denture clients that smoke and in denture clients that do not. However, the success rates for smokers can be 5-10% lower than in non-smoking clients.
This clinical study is testing a new implant design that may boost the success rate in smokers to the same level as non-smokers.
We expect the success rates to be in the normal range for non-smokers 93-97% and to be at least the same as in the past for non-smokers, if not increased, due to this new technology.
Both smokers and non-smokers who wear dentures are eligible to participate at a slightly reduced treatment cost (treatment is not free).
